How I Turned My Business into an Auto-Pilot System

How I Created an Auto-Pilot Business and Rediscovered My Purpose

Karunakaran·Jul 27, 2026·6 min read

I Started With Courage, Not Experience

My entrepreneurial journey began in 2007.

I had studied Tool Engineering and worked in different companies before deciding to start my own business.

Although I understood tooling, I knew almost nothing about manufacturing automotive press components.

I wasn't an expert.

I simply had the courage to begin.

Initially, we worked only as a job-work unit. Customers supplied the materials, and we manufactured the components for them.

Over the years, we slowly built our capabilities and started manufacturing with our own materials.

Looking back, I realise something.

Money wasn't the biggest requirement.

Courage was.

If I had waited until I knew everything, I would never have started.

My Biggest Enemy Wasn't Competition

People often assume that business struggles come from competition or market conditions.

For me, the biggest challenge was something much deeper.

Consistency.

There were periods when I worked with great energy.

Then suddenly, I would lose momentum.

For weeks, I wouldn't feel like taking action.

I knew what needed to be done, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

That cycle repeated for years.

Whenever I fell, it took a long time to get back up.

I accepted it as part of my personality.

Later, I realised it wasn't.

It was something I could change.

One Facebook Video Changed My Direction

Like many people, I was casually scrolling through Facebook when I came across a short video from Fortune Makers.

Something about it made me stop.

I attended the webinar.

I joined the Silver Membership.

For months, I hardly used it.

Then, in 2023, I decided to join the Diamond Membership.

That decision changed the direction of my business.

I didn't just learn new business strategies.

I started changing the way I thought.

I Learned That Priority Creates Progress

One of the first lessons I implemented was the 80/20 Principle.

Earlier, my task list was endless.

Everything looked important.

As a result, I jumped from one activity to another without finishing the work that truly mattered.

Inside the community, I learned to identify my highest priorities.

Instead of trying to complete everything, I focused on the few tasks that created the biggest results.

Once I finished those first, everything else became easier.

That simple habit gave me more clarity, more confidence, and much more consistency.

Clear Thinking Changed My Decisions

The biggest transformation wasn't in my business.

It was in my thinking.

When I became clear about my goals, making decisions became much easier.

Whether it was hiring people, making investments, or planning for the future, I no longer stayed stuck in confusion.

I knew where I wanted to go.

That clarity gave every decision a direction.

Instead of reacting to problems, I started making decisions based on long-term vision.

Finance Became My Strongest Foundation

For many years, I tried different ways of tracking my business finances.

Excel sheets.

Reports.

Different accounting methods.

Nothing stayed consistent.

As a result, I couldn't confidently answer one simple question.

"What is my actual profit?"

That changed when I started following a proper financial review system.

For the first time, I gained complete visibility into my business.

I realised that finance isn't just another department.

It's the heart of the business.

Once I understood my numbers, every business decision became stronger.

Building an Auto-Pilot Business Changed Everything

One of my biggest goals was to build a business that didn't depend on me every minute.

Earlier, my entire day was filled with operational meetings.

Preparing for meetings alone consumed enormous amounts of time and energy.

By the time the meetings were over, I often felt mentally exhausted.

Inside the Fortune Makers Community, I learned how to build the next level of leadership.

Instead of managing every employee directly, I developed key people who could lead their own teams.

Today, daily operations are handled through structured systems.

I review the business instead of running every task myself.

The time and energy I once spent solving daily operational issues is now invested in sales, marketing, and long-term business growth.

That is what auto-pilot means to me.

Not walking away from the business.

But building a business that can perform even when I am not involved in every decision.

Success Changed My Family Life Too

The biggest reward wasn't business growth.

It was peace of mind.

Earlier, even when I was with my family, my mind stayed inside the factory.

Every outing came with worry.

Every vacation came with stress.

I was physically present but mentally absent.

Today, things are different.

When I spend time with my family, I can be fully present.

My children noticed the difference before I did.

They told me I smiled more.

I laughed more.

I was genuinely with them.

For me, that is one of the greatest achievements of this journey.

I Finally Found My Sweet Spot

One idea completely changed how I see work.

The concept of the Sweet Spot.

To me, a Sweet Spot means waking up every morning with the same excitement I would have if I were leaving for a vacation with my closest friends.

Work no longer feels like a burden.

It gives me energy.

Instead of feeling drained at the end of the day, I feel more alive because I am doing work that truly excites me.

Today, I have identified that Sweet Spot in tooling and manufacturing.

That clarity has given me a completely new direction for my future.

My Vision Is Much Bigger Today

Today, my dream is no longer limited to manufacturing parts.

I am building an integrated business that combines tooling and manufacturing under one roof.

This unique combination gives us a significant competitive advantage.

Over the next few years, I want to expand this business into one of the leading companies in the industry, create more employment opportunities, and continue building a business that grows without depending entirely on me.

More importantly, I want to enjoy the journey while building it.

"

The biggest transformation wasn't in my business. It was in my mindset. Once my thinking changed, everything else started changing with it.
